Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are reportedly planning to reconcile with the royal family once and for all, especially after changes are reportedly being made to the memoir and upcoming Netflix documentary.

A royal insider claims the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, who are gearing up for Harry's tell-all memoir and a joint documentary series, will look to mend fences next year.

A source told The Sun: "Next year, 2023, was to be their reconciliation year."

"They have always been careful to not criticise the monarch. They have always tried to be respectful to the Queen."

The source added: "But the Queen has now died and Charles and Camilla are the King and Queen... Clearly, this reconciliation attempt would never work if they have been critical of the new monarch, or both."

Other sources have also said that the past 12 months were the couple's "era of visibility", especially with putting out Meghan's podcast, Prince Harry's imminent memoir, and an upcoming Netflix series.

Royal author Robert Jobson commented that this "shows they are a very calculating couple and yet again their timing has completely misfired.

"They got it completely wrong by doing Oprah Winfrey when Philip was in hospital just days from death. They got it wrong again with the ridiculous interview with American magazine The Cut weeks before the Queen died.

"Now this plot for a year of reconciliation. Their timing is appalling as always," he added.

The royal expert said Harry and Meghan's long-game plan should be earning the trust of King Charles III.

"It is also completely arrogant because they are assuming they can win back the trust of Harry's father and brother. But that trust has gone forever. Harry and Meghan will never be looked at the same," Jobson states.

"Harry needs to remember he is now dealing with the Head of State – not just his dad.

"If they disrespect The King, they are not only disrespecting the man, but also the institution.

"As a dad, Charles will always love his son. But as a King he cannot trust him."

This comes with reports that Prince Harry is "desperate" to tone-down his memoir in light of the Queen's death.

"Harry has thrown a spanner in the works as he is desperate to get it refined in the light of the Queen's death, her funeral and his father Charles taking the throne," a source previously told The Sun.

"There may be things which might not look so good if they come out so soon after the Queen's death and his dad becoming King.

"He wants sections changed. It's not a total rewrite by any means. He desperately wants to make changes. But it might be too late."
