Prince Harry and Meghan's latest project with Netflix revealed after critics slam duchess' Christmas special
Months after announcing a watered-down renewed deal with Netflix, Prince Harry and Meghan have revealed their next project with the streaming platform.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex will produce the film adaptation of the popular book, The Wedding Date, through their company Archewell Productions.
The news comes two weeks after the release of the duchess' Christmas special, With Love, Meghan: Holiday Celebration, which was panned by critics around the world. A third season of the show is unlikely.

The Wedding Date, by New York Times bestselling author Jasmine Guillory, was first published in 2018 and is the first in a six-book series.
The book follows central character Alexa Monroe after she agrees to go to a wedding with a stranger she gets stuck with in an elevator.
The film is being adapted by Tracy Oliver, who is behind the 2017 hit Girls Trip. The comedy saw Oliver become the first Black woman to write a film that grossed more than $100 million at the global box office.
Prince Harry and Meghan will co-produce alongside Tracy Ryerson.

In August, the couple renewed their contract with Netflix with a "multiyear, first-look deal". It means the streamer is given the first option on any ideas the Sussexes come up with rather than funding the couple's entire production output.
Their updated contract is seen as a watered down version of the five-year deal they signed with Netflix soon after leaving the royal family in 2020.
Their previous projects have been hit and miss, bringing in mixed reactions.
They include With Love, Meghan (season one and two, and a Christmas special), Masaka Kids: A Rhythm Within, Polo, Heart of Invictus, Live to Lead and their debut project, the six-part Harry & Meghan.
Prince Harry and Meghan's most successful collaboration with Netflix so far was their first, released in 2022.
The couple's adaptation of the bestselling romantic novel Meet Me at the Lake, by Carley Fortune, is still in the works despite reports suggesting it had been shelved.

Earlier this week, it was revealed Prince Harry and Meghan will executive produce Cookie Queens about America's Girl Scouts, due to premiere at the 2026 Sundance Film Festival.
Meghan described the project as "absolutely irresistible".
"As a former Girl Scout myself, with my mum as my troop leader, I have a personal affinity for this film," the duchess said.

"When we first viewed the early footage of this documentary, it was immediately something we wanted to be involved in."
