Harry and Meghan's possible next move after Netflix deal 'ends'

Brand and Culture expert Nick Ede has told HELLO! reports the Duke and Duchess of Sussex may be moving on from the streaming giant isn't necessarily bad news for the couple, as it will open them up to potential deals with other platforms including Amazon Prime, whom they can now "court".

He also speculates their work with Netflix may not be over, even if their current deal isn't renewed.

"The first look deal is something that many channels offer the biggest stars, and I'm sure Netflix won't want to lose their relationship with the pair as they have brought viewers, subscribers and column inches to the platform," he said.

"And although some of their shows have failed to ignite the interest they originally had, they are still box office when it comes to publicity.

"I'm sure, like anyone, they would like the security of knowing what income they are going to make from their deals, but with Netflix making more shows that appeal to their audience, another big investment from them will not be on the cards anymore."

The second season of the duchess' Netflix series With Love, Meghan, is still set to air later this year.

Harry and Meghan are reportedly parting ways with streaming giant at the end of their current deal.

It's understood their contract, which was rumoured to be worth $US100 million ($150 million), won't be renewed when it expires in September.

The news was first reported by UK newspaper The Sun and later confirmed by US publication People magazine but the couple are yet to make any announcement.

It brings an end to the five-year partnership between Archewell Productions and Netflix, which extends to Meghan's brand As ever, which the streamer invested in.

"Netflix feel they've got all they can from the couple," one insider was quoted as saying by The Sun.

Their initial docuseries Harry & Meghan broke records on the streaming service with the highest view hours of any documentary title in a premiere week.

In December 2022, 81.55 million hours of the six-part series were viewed across 28 million households.

However Prince Harry's docuseries Polo only got 500,000 eyeballs and season one of With Love, Meghan failed to make the streamer's top 300 viewed programs in the first half of 2025.

The eight-part series focusing on recipes and hints around the home, garnered 5.3 million views, earning it 383rd position on the rankings list.

Netflix was the biggest deal the couple signed following their move to the US and leaving their roles as senior working members of the British royal family in 2020.

They also signed a deal with Spotify, estimated to be worth $US25 million ($38 million), which has also ended after both parties "mutually agreed to part ways".
