Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have been told by Netflix executives that their deal will continue and they will get the rest of their reported £81 million ($154 million).

So far, the couple have only been paid half of the deal, about $76 million for their hit docu-series, Harry and Meghan, which ended up becoming the streaming service's most-viewed documentary.

An industry source says Netflix is happy to continue with the deal, given the Sussex's ideas remain fresh.

"There's no question of a headline-grabbing, public parting of the way," the source told The Sun

"Netflix was pleased to sign Harry and Meghan and is looking for some great ideas going forward.

"But the remainder of the deal relies on them producing those good ideas. The deal's continually under review which is normal for ones of this magnitude."

Though Harry and Meghan was a huge success, the Duchess of Sussex's idea of an animated series, Pearl, about a girl inspired by historical female figures, was dropped.

However, Harry's series Heart of Invictus, about the Invictus Games, which he himself founded for wounded ex-service competitors, will likely be dropping in August.

The couple also produced Live to Lead, a documentary featuring several world leaders sharing their life stories.

It comes on the heels of their deal with their $29 million Spotify deal being cancelled after their content was "underperforming".

Meghan only released 12 episodes of her podcast, Archetypes, before the audio giant pulled the deal.

Spotify's chief executive Danny Ek spoke about the audio streamer's US $1bn spending spree in 2019, agreeing they had been "overpaying and overinvesting."

"We're going to be very diligent in how we invest in future content deals," he told financial analysts.

"And the ones that are performing, we will obviously look at those on a case-by-case basis on the relative value."
