Prince Harry talks climate change action and how the Queen inspires him

Prince Harry has shared how his grandmother Queen Elizabeth is his "ultimate" inspiration as he takes on a new Commonwealth position.
 
The 33-year-old was named Youth Ambassador on Monday, a role that will see him “highlight and support the work and aspirations” of young people in Commonwealth countries.

“When I was reflecting on how to make the biggest impact with this new role, I turned to the ultimate source of guidance on all things Commonwealth: the words of The Queen herself,” the prince said.

Harry went on to cite a radio address his grandmother, then Princess Elizabeth, gave from Cape Town on the day of her 21st birthday in 1947.

“With an eye on the future, and an already unflinching sense of duty, she made a commitment,” he told the audience at London’s Queen Elizabeth II Conference Centre.

Harry’s new appointment comes just weeks ahead of his May 19 wedding to American actress Meghan Markle at Windsor Castle.
 
During his speech, the groom-to-be also shared his belief that the young people of the Commonwealth would “lead the world’s response” to the threat of climate change.
