How Prince William and Kate Middleton motivated Prince Harry's breakup with Chelsy Davy

Prince Harry may have found the love of his life in Meghan Markle, but talk of his former relationship with Chelsy Davy isn't dying down.

According to The Mirror, there is more to the split between the Zimbabwean-born woman and the Duke of Sussex who dated on and off between 2004 and 2011…and Prince William and Kate Middleton have to a lot to do with it.

Davy accompanied Harry to the royal wedding in 2011 and supposedly that is when she realised she wasn't cut out for a life married to the prince.

"A friend revealed that seeing the enormity and pomp of the day convinced Chelsy that she and Harry had been right to separate," royal biographer Angela Levin told The Mirror.

"Although they had a lot in common, she saw clearly that because they came from such different worlds it could never have worked, especially as she valued her privacy and guarded it so carefully."

Royal insider Victoria Arbiter told told that there was extreme pressure on anyone dating one of the princes.

"It's incredibly difficult to maintain everyone's expectations," she said.

However, Arbiter – who is the daughter of Queen Elizabeth's former press spokesman, Dickie Arbiter – revealed she believes Meghan has what it takes to handle the pressures of royal life.

"She seems very confident already. She's not been shy about speaking over Harry or extending her hand before him," she explained.

"By nature, Harry is incredibly tactile, Meghan seems to be the same way."

Davy – who has just launched a line of jewellery – spoke to The Sunday Times about her relationship with the young royal, calling the attention on them "crazy" and "scary"

"It was so full-on: crazy, and scary, and uncomfortable," she said.

"I found it very difficult when it was bad. I couldn't cope."

However, Davy famously attended Harry and Meghan's May 19 nuptials.

"I think we will always be good friends," she added.
