Prince George cheers on team England with mum Kate and dad Prince William at Euro2020 final

Prince George has been spotted enthusiastically cheering for team England as they played Italy in the Euro2020 finals.

The seven-year old joined his parents the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge for the much-hyped match at Wembley Stadium on Sunday night local time.

George - who is an avid football fan - was seen clapping and laughing as England took the lead against their Italian rivals.

He was caught on camera as England scored, turning towards his dad in jubilation.

The little prince was dressed in a navy suit and tie featuring the colours of team England, with Prince William wearing the same tie.

The Duchess of Cambridge showed her support for England wearing a white blazer and large red earrings.

But Kate's statement jewellery appeared to be annoying her as she was photographed fiddling with the earrings multiple times before taking one of them out.

According to reports Prince William and Kate were said to be at odds over whether to allow George to wear England's jersey.

Tennis star Marion Bartoli said William was in favour but his wife was against.

She told BBC Radio 5 Live: "Yesterday I had an afternoon tea with the duchess and it was very much a discussion whether George will be allowed to wear the jersey tonight at Wembley or not.

"William was for it, Kate not so keen, so we'll see."

The duchess obviously won that debate with George wearing the suit instead.

But unfortunately for Prince George, and for the whole of England, Italy won the match in extra time.

Italy beat England 3-2, becoming the European Champions following a thrilling final.
