Prince George's birthday photos include a sartorial nod to his dad
Prince George's increasingly toothy grin steals the show in his new birthday portraits, but one of his outfits has also drawn attention.
In one of the two photos released ahead of George's seventh birthday this week, the future king wears a camouflage-print T-shirt.

On another child this mightn't have seemed a significant detail, but the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge's firstborn comes from a family with close ties to the armed forces.
Both George's father Prince William and uncle Prince Harry have served in the military — the Royal Air Force and the Army, respectively — as have Prince Charles and Prince Philip.
Queen Elizabeth also joined the armed services, becoming the first royal to serve as a full-time active member in 1945.

Joining the Auxiliary Territorial Service (ATS), Her Majesty trained as a mechanic and a military truck driver; in fact, it was during this training that she learned to drive.
Today, the monarch is Head of the Armed Forces.

William and Harry have both spoken fondly of their experiences in the armed forces.

The Duke of Sussex in particular has worked closely with the military community since he left the Army. Harry co-founded the Invictus Games, a sporting competition for wounded, injured and sick former soldiers.
There's no telling whether Prince George will follow in his father's footsteps when he's old enough, but for now there's no denying he looks adorable in his camo tee.
As always, the prince's birthday photos were taken by his mother Kate, who has proven quite the whiz at family portraiture.

Comments under the first photo on the Kensington Palace Instagram page mostly fall into one of three camps:
1. Wow, this child is looking more and more like his father every day.
2. How on EARTH is the royal baby seven years old?!
3. SO CUTE!
Yep, that pretty much sums it up.

George, his parents and siblings Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis have been in isolation at Anmer Hall, the family's country home, since March.
All three of the Cambridge children have celebrated birthdays during the UK's lockdown period, though George's comes at a time where rules are slightly more relaxed.
