Princess Mary's son remerges for the first time after coronavirus diagnosis

Princess Mary's eldest son Prince Christian has made his first public appearance since contracting coronavirus earlier in December.

The second in line to the Danish throne took part in a special video marking the fourth Sunday of Advent in the lead up to the Christmas period.

Prince Christian, 15, was filmed alongside his siblings Isabella, 13, and twins Vincent and Josephine, 9, as the children watched their father Crown Prince Frederik light the last candle on the wreath in Christmas tradition.

The sweet video was posted to Instagram, with the caption "The Crown Prince's family sends a Christmas greeting from their home in Frederik VIII's Palace at Amalienborg."

The royal family of six also wished everyone 'Happy Christmas' before retiring for a cup of tea.

The young royal's diagnosis was confirmed by The Danish Royal House on December 6th, where he immediately went into quarantine as stipulated under Danish Law.

An outbreak of the virus had occurred at the 15-year-old prince's school.

"The Crown Prince and Crown Princess were informed yesterday, Sunday 6 December 2020, of a local outbreak of COVID-19 at Tranegårdskolen in Hellerup," it said.

"Prince Christian has subsequently tested positive for COVID-19."

Prince Christian isolated until December 14th, while the rest of his family tested negative for coronavirus.

The heir to the Danish throne had not shown any symptoms but was put into isolation along with his family.

The palace confirmed Prince Christian had no contact with extended members of the Danish royal family, including grandmother Queen Margrethe II, who is 80.

Crown Princess Mary attended her first public event since her son's coronavirus diagnosis forced the family into isolation last year, appearing at a virtual meeting to mark the one-year anniversary of the Global Refugee Forum.

She was also pictured arriving at the Danish Refugee Council's head office in Copenhagen.

Mary gave the opening speech of the digital panel debate, as a patron of the Danish Refugee Council. 

Denmark is currently facing strict coronavirus restrictions that will remain until January 3.

Recently, the Danish royal family confirmed plans for a social-distanced Christmas due to the virus outbreak.
