The royal who supported Piers Morgan following Meghan fallout named

Controversial British broadcaster Piers Morgan has named the royal who supported him following his most recent fall out with Meghan Markle and it is none other than... Sarah Ferguson, the Duchess of York.

Morgan, 55, says he received a text message of support from Ferguson, 61, after he was forced to resign from his position as co-host of Good Morning Britain on ITV over his comments following Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's television interview with Oprah Winfrey.

Writing in his column in Mail on Sunday, Morgan claimed he was contacted by "several members of the royal family" after he left the show, including the duchess.

"Not all Royal duchesses were as thrilled as Meghan 'Pinocchio' Markle to see me leave GMB," he wrote. "People have said how much they miss your morning joy and humour."

He said Ferguson texted for him to "Get back out there!"

Clearly thrilled with the support he received from the royal family, he joked that he and Ferguson could start their own show called 'Morgy and Fergie in the Morning'.

He repeated the claim on US TV show Extra: "I've had some messages communicated to me on behalf of several members of the royal family.

"I'm not going to go into who it was but [it was] gratitude that somebody was standing up."

Piers Morgan most recently took issue with claims made by the Duke and Duchess of Sussex during their tell-all interview with Oprah Winfrey which aired around the world on March 7, in particular with the couple's claim a senior royal had made racist comments about the colour of Archie's skin before his birth.

Morgan has since demanded the couple name that senior royal.

He also expressed doubt at Meghan's claim she was refused mental health support while pregnant with Archie, with this comment leading to a record number of complaints being sent into ITV, including one from the duchess herself.

Morgan told Fox Nation he wanted to know who this supposed racist royal was.

"As a British taxpayer, who helps pay for the royal family, I would like to know, actually, if there is a real racist inside the palace," he said.

It was during a discussion about the Oprah Interview on GMB that Morgan walked off the set following a clash with co-worker Alex Beresford, with Morgan later resigning from his position.

He remains adamant that Harry and Meghan should name the senior royal they have accused of racism, and continues to express doubt over the couples revelations during the interview.

Prince Harry has returned to the UK to attend the funeral of his grandfather, Prince Philip, scheduled for Saturday. This is the first time Harry, 36, has returned home since he and Meghan resigned as senior working members of the British royal family.

Meghan hasn't joined her husband upon medical advice.

The couple is expecting their second child, a daughter, due later this year. Son Archie turns two on May 6.
