'Shocking breach of trust': Palace furious over Harry and Meghan interview

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's tell-all special with Oprah Winfrey has sparked a new realm of fury for the Royal Family after it was revealed details of private peace talks were leaked to a US TV network.

Discussions that occurred between Prince Charles, Prince William and the Sussexes after the interview aired, were addressed by journalist Gayle King from CBS, the network that aired the two-hour interview.

Oprah's close friend, who hosted the duke and duchess of Sussex at her home where the interview was filmed, called the peace talks "unproductive", informing millions of viewers that she had spoken to the pair.

The breakfast program host said on CBS program This Morning that Harry and Meghan had kept her in the loop on what's happening behind the scenes in the fallout of the bombshell interview.

King said: "I'm not trying to break news, but I did actually call them to see how they were feeling and it's true Harry has talked to his brother and he has talked to his father too."

"The word I was given was that those conversations were not productive but they are glad that they have at least started a conversation.

King added "no one in the royal family has talked to Meghan yet…"

In response, Palace chiefs branded the statement "a shocking breach of trust".

Royal sources told The Mirror King's comments "would cause alarm" among senior royals, sparking fear that private conversations would be used against them. 

"This type of behaviour could have huge implications for trust between the camps moving forward," the source said.

"None of the households - the Queen, Prince of Wales and Duchess of Cornwall, and the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge - will be giving a running commentary on private conversations."

The couple's interview aired a number of shocking allegations spanning racism and institutional abuse and has been addressed by the Queen, who vowed to investigate the couple's claims "privately".

Royal biographer Penny Junor told The Sun, however, the couple's claims are hypocritical.

"The family will worry that anything they say to Harry will end up on American television," she explained.

The news emerges as an independent inquiry has begun over allegations Meghan bullied several members of her staff in the UK.
