Mike Tindall has been spotted entertaining several members of the royal family, including Queen Elizabeth.

Tindall, a former rugby captain, attended day one of Royal Ascot on Tuesday along with his wife Zara and several of his royal in-laws.

While chatting with the Queen, Princess Beatrice and the Countess of Wessex, the father-of-two revealed that under his top hat, he was wearing a miniature version of the headpiece inside of it.

Everyone in the group, including Her Majesty, cracked up laughing.

The moment was shared on Twitter by ITV Racing, who asked fans to guess what the tiny hat actually was.

"It's those chocolates you can buy in the shop I think? Very funny," one replied.

Another suggested it was a "large Nespresso capsule", while someone else guessed "yogurt pot."

The Tindalls are huge fans of Royal Ascot and appeared to be enjoying their time with family on the opening day.

Zara, herself an equestrian, wore a floral Zimmermann dress paired with a pale cornflower blue hat.

Mike is known for his sense of humour and is often seen laughing and joking with the royals at public events.

The couple were married in July 2011 and have two children - Mia, five, and Lena, who turns one in July.

The equestrian fans were also seen at the Burnham Horse Trials with the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge recently, joined by the two oldest Cambridge children Prince George and Princess Charlotte.
