A designer-clad Duchess of Sussex has been seen for the first time since it was confirmed her and Prince Harry's children will be known as Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.

Meghan was all smiles as she left the Gracias Madre restaurant in West Hollywood with a friend hours after she and her husband announced their daughter had been christened, using Lili's princess title for the first time.

The duchess carried a Chanel handbag costing a whopping $US6,400 ($9,724) and wore the black Max Mara 'Lilia' cashmere coat, retailing for $US5000 ($7500).

Her white slip-on shoes are by Valentino, costing $US770 ($1170) while Meghan's sunglasses are also by the luxury Italian fashion house and retail for $US217 ($330).

Meghan accessorised with the gold Cartier Tank Française watch that previously belonged to Diana, Princess of Wales, which retails for upwards of $30,000, and Diana's diamond tennis bracelet.

The duchess also wore her Cartier love band bracelet – worth around $14,000 – and three other delicate bracelets that appear to have diamonds on them.

But Meghan's trilogy diamond engagement ring was missing; instead she wore just her wedding ring and eternity band.

"As an advocate for women's rights and supporter of mothers and families in need, Meghan, The Duchess of Sussex and the Archewell team celebrated the women of Harvest Home by creating a pop up baby boutique, hosting lunch from a female owned restaurant, and making a donation to the organisation," the statement read.

"Happy International Women's day to all of you! Whether donating your time, funds, or helping a woman in your community, let's all celebrate the women in our lives today and every day!"

It is understood the titles will be used in formal settings but not in everyday use by the couple.

Prince Harry and Meghan later released a statement the move as being their children's "birthright since their grandfather became monarch".
