The glamorous part of acting life Meghan Markle didn't get to experience
In her time as a working royal, Meghan Markle attended a number of awards ceremonies, even presenting the honours in some cases.
As an actress, however, awards season wasn't something she really had the chance to experience first-hand.

The Duchess of Sussex's most prominent on-screen role was as paralegal Rachel Zane in the US legal drama Suits, which came to an end after nine seasons this year.
While the series was popular during its run, it never scored a nomination for what are arguably the two most prestigious TV awards — the Emmys and Golden Globes.
This meant Meghan and her castmates didn't have the chance to attend those ceremonies, both of which are broadcast around the world.

Suits did, however, pick up nominations for ceremonies including the People's Choice Awards, the ALMA Awards and the Screen Actors Guild Awards.
Unfortunately, in her six years on the show Meghan didn't earn any award nominations.

That looked like it was about to change in mid-2018, when the retired actress was submitted for Emmy consideration along with her castmates by the USA Network.

The network put Meghan forward in the Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series category, ET reported, but she didn't land a nomination.
The duchess had departed Suits the previous year, moving to the UK from Toronto — where she'd been based during filming — to embark on her royal life with Prince Harry.
Had she been successful in being named among the Emmy nominees, Meghan would have been in good company.

Fellow thespian-turned-royal Princess Grace, formerly Grace Kelly, had numerous awards and nominations to her name.
The film star, who married Monaco's Prince Rainier, won three Golden Globe Awards and an Oscar before swapping Hollywood for the palace.

Though Meghan and Harry were invited to attend the 2018 Emmy Awards as special guests, the couple reportedly "politely" declined the offer.

"We had hoped Meghan would attend as a way of saying goodbye to her Suits fans and colleagues," a source told The Sun at the time.
Perhaps the Sussexes are enjoying the Emmys action from the comfort of their new Montecito home at this very moment.
