The truth about Meghan Markle’s ‘banishment’ from the Queen’s jewellery

While being a member of the royal family is certainly no walk in the park, one of the finer perks of the job means you get to don some serious sparkle sometimes.

However, there’s one royal who has apparently been banned from wearing jewellery from the Royal Collection by the Queen, and that’s Meghan Markle – according to The Sun.

An apparent “senior royal insider” has spilled the beans to the publication, claiming the Queen hasn’t been “impressed with some of Meghan’s demands”.

That’s apparently resulted in the Duchess of Sussex being prohibited by Her Majesty from wearing items of jewellery Princess Diana once wore.

However, if we all put our royal thinking caps on, casting our minds back to some of Meghan’s many public appearances, it seems the facts – and photographs – tell a rather different story.

Firstly, the 37-year-old has worn quite a few pieces from the Royal Collection, including the stunning Queen Mary Diamond Bandeau tiara, which belongs to Queen Elizabeth II, on her wedding day.

Meghan has also been seen wearing multiple pieces of jewellery that once belonged to Diana, most notably a pair of diamond butterfly earrings.

The Duchess wore the studs several times on her first major international royal tour with husband Prince Harry last year.

To add the cherry on top of the cake, Vanity Fair has reported senior royal sources confirming Meghan is indeed allowed to wear pieces from the Queen’s collection.

“It’s not the kind of thing the Queen would do. She is very generous when it comes to lending jewels to her family,” a family friend said.

Case and point.
