The Duchess of Sussex will soon regret creating an "isolated world" for herself and Prince Harry away from the royal family in the United States.

That's according to Tom Bower, who is in the process of writing a new book about Meghan.

He says the couple are "so desperate to control the narrative" that can't risk letting outsiders "influencing" what they have made for themselves.

The couple moved to Canada in late 2019 before making their relocation permanent in mid-2020 when they set up base in California.

Prince Harry has returned to the UK just twice this year while Meghan has not been there since March, 2020.

Their son Archie, two, hasn't seen his royal family members since late 2019, while their daughter Lilibet, five-months, hasn't yet been introduced to Harry's side.

Bower, 75, told Closer magazine the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have "totally isolated themselves".

"They seem to think they will be stronger by cutting people out, but they're really just alienating their families," he said.

"I think it's very sad for them both, and their children."

He points the finger at Meghan who he calls "a very stubborn person".

"But I think eventually even she'll realise that this isolated world she and Harry have built for themselves was a poisonous choice.

"They seem so desperate to control the narrative that they can't risk anyone else influencing it – but this will simply cause more damage to them in the future, when their children grow up with no family around them."

Last week Meghan's estranged father Thomas Markle spoke to Good Morning Britain from his home in Mexico, accusing Harry of only wanting to make money after he "abandoned the Queen and the royal family" for a life in LA.

Thomas, who has been openly critical of his daughter and Prince Harry since before the royal wedding, once again took aim at the couple while pleading for a reunion.

He also accused Harry of having a negative influence on his daughter.

"I don't know what changed her, she's never been that way before. Once she hooked up with Harry, she changed.

"I understand she hooked up with the Soho Club and a different group of people but she's pretty much disowned both sides of her family and I don't understand the reason for it."

Bower, too, said Meghan had changed dramatically since her childhood.

"The whole situation is odd, and it's all the more strange considering how Meghan was in her younger years," Bower said.

"From what I can see, she became a completely different person when her career began taking off, when she joined [US drama] Suits and when she began dating Harry."
