Prince Harry surprised Meghan Markle with this particular habit at home

Prince Harry has revealed that there is one habit he's picked up from his father, Prince Charles, that his new wife Meghan Markle sometimes challenges him on at home.

During an appearance in a BBC documentary about Prince Charles to celebrate his 70th birthday, Prince Harry revealed that he's inherited some environmentally conscious habits from his father, a longtime environmentalist – one of which was a particular surprise to his wife, Meghan, when she moved in with him.

Harry revealed that one of Prince Charles' ways of being sustainable at home is to avoid wasting electricity, meaning he is a, "stickler for turning lights off."

"And that’s now something that I’m obsessed with as well," father-to-be Harry revealed, with Prince William agreeing, "I know, I’ve got serious OCD on light switches now, which is terrible."

"And all of a sudden it becomes a habit," Harry continued, "and those small habit changes he’s making, every single person can do and I think it’s one of the key lessons that he taught us."

While both Princes have developed a penchant for turning off lights at home, where they both live in different apartments of Kensington Palace, only Harry has to contend with explaining his habit to his wife. 

Talking directly to William, Harry said on camera, "I don’t know whether your wife does this (Kate, Duchess of Cambridge) ― my wife (Meghan, Duchess of Sussex) certainly goes, 'Well, why turn the lights off? You know, it’s dark.' I go, 'We only need one light, we don’t need six'."

We expect the Duchess of Cambridge, who has been married to Prince William for seven years but has known him since 2001, is more than used to her husband's light switching habit by now. 

For Meghan, getting used to Harry turning lights off may take a little more time, but for a Duchess that went out of her way to wear sustainable fashion on her first ever royal tour, we're sure she'll get on board with the eco-conscious practices within Kensington Palace pretty quickly too.
