Piers Morgan lashes out at Meghan Markle on Today

Piers Morgan has labelled Meghan Markle a "social climber" during an exclusive interview on Today with Deb Knight.

The controversial UK TV host has previously called the Duchess of Sussex “fake” and “a piece of work”.

When confronted with the accusations by on Thursday morning, Morgan stood by them.

“You know, I’m sorry to have to say this, but I’m afraid I think she is,” he said.

“I got to know her quite well over a two-year-period and we would message each other a lot, email each other a lot. She’s say, ‘I’m coming to London, can we meet up?’

“We went to my local pub. I had a couple of pints of real ale, she had a couple of dirty martinis, and we chewed the fat for a couple of hours.

She said afterwards [walking] to the cab, ‘I had such a great time’, and, ‘I’d love to see you again’. Purely platonic, I hasten to add."

Morgan claims that night, Meghan attended a party where she met Prince Harry, who would go on to become her husband.

“The next night she went out on a date with him. I never heard from her again. Ever,” the broadcaster continued.

“I don’t like people who behave like that. It’s kind of rude. And it showed me she, I’m afraid, is probably a bit of a social climber. Although, some people really like her and are falling for this act.

“I’m afraid I see a bit of a hard-nosed actress whose been using people on her way up to what is now, of course, is the top, which is marrying into the royal family."

Morgan went on to wish Prince Harry “good luck”.

“Good luck to Prince Harry. I hope he knows what he’s doing. If it all goes wrong, don’t come crying to me. I tried to warn you," he concluded.
