Omid Scobie has backed up Meghan Markle's claim that senior royals had 'conversations' about how dark her son's skin would be.

The Duchess of Sussex first spoke of the uncomfortable questions during her and Prince Harry's TV interview with Oprah Winfrey.

"In those months when I was pregnant, all around this same time so we have in tandem the conversation of he won't be given security, he's not going to be given a title," she said.

"And also concerns and conversations about how dark his skin might be when he was born. There were several conversations about it."

Now Scobie, a royal reporter and co-author of Finding Freedom, has commented on the "issue" at a London Foreign Press Association event.

Reportedly friendly with Meghan and Harry, Scobie spoke out in their defense and claimed it was "not just this one person" in the royal family making comments about Archie's skin.

"There was one conversation that took place that affected them massively, when it came to someone within the Royal Family sharing concerns over the colour of Archie's skin," he said, via The Sun.

He went on to say that it may have seemed like "one conversation" to Harry, but the comments were more damaging to Meghan, who was the first biracial royal.

"There were other people aware of this conversation within the family and within the institution, that did also speak about it, some not so sympathetically," Scobie added.

He called it a "much bigger issue" than a single comment, but declined to speak further when reporters asked if he knew which royals made the comments.

Scobie suggested he knew who was behind it, though the information came from a single source and couldn't be totally verified.

After Harry and Meghan's Oprah interview, there was mass speculation over which royal had made the supposedly racist comments about their son.

Though details were never confirmed, accusations of racism within the monarchy have plagued the royal family ever since.

Scobie commented on the fallout, saying: "Even when William said we are not a racist family, they didn't condemn racism in any form whatsoever.

"We do not see the Royal Family ever do that."

Though members of the royal family, including Prince William, have assure the public they are not racist, the monarchy is still battling fallout over Harry and Meghan's claims.
