The 'feminist' gift that left Meghan in stitches during her Sussex visit

Since becoming a royal, Meghan Markle has been quite literally showered in gifts from members of the public.

During official engagements, the Duchess of Sussex typically accepts bouquets of flowers and other tokens from her hosts and fans with a gracious smile and a polite “thank you”.

However, a unique gift presented to her during her trip to Sussex this week drew a far more animated reaction than we’re used to seeing from Meghan.

Drawn with pen and ink, the piece depicts the rescue dog answering the question, “Who’s a good boy?”

"A boy who makes every effort to dismantle the patriarchy (whilst keeping in mind intersections of other forms of oppression),” he responds, ever-so eloquently.

“Oh my gosh … that’s Guy!” she exclaims to husband Prince Harry, gesturing to the depiction of her beloved ‘good boy’.

According to People, she added, “Look at the little freckles on his face!”

The former actress and Prince Harry were also both presented with enamel pics created by Garrett, which read: “You have a superpower and it’s called empathy.”

“Oh, I love that. That’s really special, thank you,” Meghan told the Survivor’s Network team.

On Twitter, Garrett explained the Survivors’ Network had approached him to create an artwork for them to present to the royal couple during the visit.

He decided to customise one of his previous works, ‘Patriarchy Boy’, to feature Guy, whom Meghan adopted from a rescue shelter in 2015, the year before she met Prince Harry.

The artist, whose Twitter profile describes his work as “wholesome memes on social justice themes”, was clearly touched by the Duchess’ reaction to the piece.
