Popular television shows including The Crown and Bridgerton are driving up house prices near royal residences.

Foreign buyers, in particular, are willing to fork out more to be close to royalty, with prices increasing by 63 per cent in some suburbs, The Telegraph UK reports.

Surprisingly, living near Prince Charles' London home is more expensive than property around Buckingham Palace.

Average prices in postcodes close to Clarence House, where the Prince of Wales lives with the Duchess of Cornwall, are more than $4.5 million (£2.4m).

That's despite other houses located in the same borough of Westminster asking just $2.7 million (£1.5m).

Living close to Buckingham Palace also comes with a premium, with the average price sitting at around $4.1 million (£2.2m).

That's 47 per cent more than other houses in the same area that aren't as close to the Queen's London residence.

Property expert Becky Fatemi, of estate agency Rokstone, said buyers are paying huge prices just to be near royalty.

"The likes of Bridgerton and The Crown have reignited a sense of British patronage and if a property was once home to a Lord or Lady then that certainly appeals to buyers," Fatemi told the publication.

"Our Asian clients get especially excited by that and proximity to a royal residence certainly makes a property more saleable."

Moving out of London will help secure a more affordable home, where the price can be 10 per cent lower than the average.

Property prices around Prince Harry and Meghan's wedding reception venue Frogmore House, in Windsor, cost around $1.2 million (£617,000).

Meanwhile, a home near Winsdor Castle can cost just $1.1 million (£602,000).
