King Charles could break his silence about Prince Harry and Meghan in his own television interview
The King could finally break his silence over claims made by the Duke and Duchess of Sussex about the monarchy in a television interview ahead of the coronation.
King Charles III is said to be considering sitting down for a BBC special to mark the historic event on May 6.
The interview could provide the monarch an opportunity to give his side of the story since Prince Harry and Meghan stepped back from royal duties in 2020.

But any comments by the King about his family are likely to be highly guarded and considered so as not to overshadow the coronation.
So far the King, the Queen Consort and Prince and Princess of Wales have maintained a dignified silence since Harry and Meghan's decision to speak out on multiple occasions.
In recent months the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have taken particular aim at the King, Camilla and Prince William and Catherine in their Netflix docuseries and Harry's book Spare.

The BBC interview could give the King the chance to set the record straight.
It would also be the first public statement on the family drama that is threatening to overshadow the coronation.
As for who might do the interview, it's likely to be British broadcaster and author Jonathan Dimbleby.

The veteran journalist has remained close with Charles since they worked together on a book and television interview almost 30 years ago when the then Prince of Wales admitted to being unfaithful to Diana, Princess of Wales, after their marriage had broken down.
Dimbleby recently spoke about Prince Harry's decision to write a tell-all memoir.

The veteran journalist told the BBC: "If he [Harry] wants reconciliation, I don't understand how you do it by metaphorically sitting in your Apache firing potshots at people who aren't going to answer back, as he must very well know.
"I'm perplexed. I'm at a loss. He is clearly a very troubled man."

If he did secure the interview with King Charles Dimbleby would be expected to ask about Harry's accusations.
Dimbley said of Harry: "His assertion that this is his side because so far there has only been one side. It seems to me I've not heard the other side at all, because the other side is always silent.
According to The Mirror, palace aides are concerned about the potential line of questioning.

But sources say King Charles is considering the interview offer.
"Even one small comment on Harry and Meghan would make worldwide news," a source said.
"It could also prompt a response from Harry, which would be unpredictable, like so much. Everything is very delicate."
The television special would likely cover the King's first few months as sovereign and his plans for the monarchy in the coming years.
