King Charles and Queen Camilla are looking to the future after a devastating loss.

The royals are reportedly reeling after the loss of their pet dog, a Jack Russell Terrier named Beth, who died last month.

But they will be putting all their love for their late pet Beth towards a new dog - one with a connection close to their hearts.

According to actress Amanda Holden, who spoke to the monarch backstage when hosting the Royal Variety Performance with Alan Carr, the King and Queen are looking to take on a rescue pup.

"King Charles spoke to Alan and I for ages," she told The Sun.

"Camilla is a patron of Battersea Cats and Dogs Home and I'm the ambassador for there," she shared.

"We were talking about rescues and he was saying they were definitely going to rescue another one from Battersea and that losing their dog was so sad."

The King, and in particular the Queen, were reportedly "heartbroken" by the loss of Beth, according to the statement revealing the news made by Buckingham Palace.

"A sad farewell to Beth, the Queen's much-loved companion from Battersea Dogs and Cats Home who brought such joy, whether on walkies, helping on official duties, or curled up by the fire," the palace shared.

She had to make the tough decision of putting the beloved dog down after the diagnosis of an untreatable tumour.

Camilla became patron of Battersea Dogs and Cats Home in 2017, taking over from the late Queen Elizabeth II.
