King Charles gave his royal seal of support to iconic Aussie charity, Legacy, days out from his coronation.

The monarch met with some torch bearers of the Australian Legacy Torch Relay on Thursday at Buckingham Palace, where the London-leg of the race was starting.

The torch relay is being undertaken to mark the centenary year of the charity which supports families of Australian Defence Force personnel who have given their life or their health to protect our country.

The Legacy Centenary Torch Relay began at a ceremony at Pozieres France on April 23 and then was a part of Anzac Day commemorations in Europe, before making it's way to the UK.

The six-month relay event commemorating Legacy's 100 years of service will see the torch travel over 50,000 kilometres through 100 locations, carried by approximately 1,500 torch bearers who have a connection to Legacy or the defence community.
