Kate and William forced to change date of their big race against each other

Prince William and Kate Middleton have been forced to make a big change to their upcoming event, with just days to go.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge were set to compete against each other on Friday as part of the King's Cup Regatta, taking place in Cowes on the Isle of Wight.

However, on Tuesday, Kensington Palace announced the event would be brought forward by a day.

"Due to adverse weather conditions forecasted for Friday in Cowes, The King's Cup hosted by The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge will now take place on Thursday," they said.

Kate and Wills are still set to go head-to-head as skippers of individual sailing boats, in an eight boat regatta.

Each of the boats are in support of one of the Duke and Duchess's Royal Foundation charities.

The winning team will be awarded the historic trophy The King's Cup, which the couple unveiled in May, when announcing the event.

The launch event was the day after their nephew Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor was born.

After arriving at the launch, the Duke and Duchess spoke about the new arrival in the family, with William cheekily welcoming brother Harry into "the sleep deprivation society that is parenting".
