Kate's 'resentment' towards Meghan over Queen's final moments: 'That's eaten her up'

The Princess of Wales has "built up resentment" towards the Duchess of Sussex over being denied a final farewell to the late Queen Elizabeth, according to a royal biographer.

In his latest book Our King, Robert Jobson claims Catherine stayed behind in Windsor while Prince William rushed to his grandmother's death bed at Balmoral Castle last September, instead of the pair travelling as a couple.

This arrangement was to prevent Meghan Markle from joining Prince Harry for the same trip, Jobson says.

"Harry was insisting Meghan travel with him to Scotland as the Queen's life ebbed away but the King said it was only for the children and grandchildren to be with the Queen," the author writes.

Jobson claims Charles asked Prince William not to bring Kate, telling him, "If Catherine doesn't come, Meghan can't either, it's not appropriate for wives to attend".

"Privately, he wanted to say Meghan was not welcome but he couldn't say that to Harry so he personally intervened and asked Kate to stay back so that it was fairer on Meghan," the royal biographer added.

"Kate deliberately stayed away but she desperately wanted to be there with the Queen in her last moments.

"That's eaten Kate up and has built up resentment towards Meghan."

Charles and Camilla were by the Queen's side in Scotland at the time of her death on the afternoon of September 8, with Princess Anne also making it to her mother's bedside.

Prince William, Princes Edward and Andrew and Sophie, the Duchess of Edinburgh, were also seen arriving at the Balmoral estate, with Prince Harry arriving shortly after.

However, by this time the Queen had already passed.

At the same time, Catherine was pictured collecting her two eldest children, Prince George and Princess Charlotte, from school.

King Charles' coronation takes place on May 6, with the royal family coming together for the historic event.

Prince Harry has confirmed he will be attending the event alone, with Meghan remaining in the US with the couple's two children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.
