Kate Middleton’s former private secretary, Rebecca Priestly, has welcomed her first child.

She gave birth to a baby boy last week on July 4, and has opted to give the newborn a very royal name indeed.

It seems Priestly and her husband Adam took inspiration from Kate’s husband, Prince William, opting to name their son William Michael Alexander, according to Hello!.

However, the boy will go by Billy for short. The moniker Alexander also runs in the family, as he shares the name middle name as his dad.

Priestly worked for the Duchess of Cambridge for five years as her private secretary and was considered her right-hand woman. Her job meant she travelled all over with Kate and William, joining on all their big royal tours including Canada, New Zealand and Australia.

Prior to working for the Cambridges, Priestly worked for Prince Harry’s charity Sentebale for five years.

After a decade working for the royal family, Priestly stepped down from her private secretary role in 2017.

Her resignation coincided with her wedding to Adam. The couple tied the knot two years ago.

Their wedding took place at the Chapel Royal in St. James’s Palace – where Prince Louis’ christening took place last year. Only people who have links to the royal family are permitted to tie the knot in the palace venue.
