Kate's moving tribute to Princess Diana, hidden in her Chelsea Flower Show garden

The Duchess of Cambridge has hidden a tribute to her late mother-in-law inside the garden she co-designed for the Chelsea Flower Show.

Kate's Back to Nature display features a tree house, stream, waterfall and swing along with tree stumps, stepping stones and a hollow log for children to play on.

It's been described by the Duchess as a "woodland wilderness" aimed at getting children outside where they can play.

"I really feel that nature and being interactive outdoors has huge benefits on our physical and mental wellbeing, particularly for young kiddies," Kate said of the garden, in a video posted to the Kensington Palace Instagram page.

Her children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis, have visited the garden, and were pictured playing on the rope swing. George and Charlotte enjoyed putting their bare feet into the stream, while Prince William helped guide little Louis around, as the one-year-old learns how to walk on his own.

Over the past months, George, Charlotte and Louis helped their mother collect leaves, moss and twigs, which were then incorporated into the design.

Family is clearly a central part of the design and Kate made sure to include a touching tribute to Diana, the Princess of Wales.

The garden features Diana's favourite flowers, forget-me-nots. The delicate blue, yellow and white flowers symbolise love and memories.

Forget-me-nots sit within the garden among the blue periwinkle, strawberry plants, geraniums, astrantias, ferns and rhubarb.

Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex, also recently included forget-me-nots in a Mother's Day post featuring the feet of her newborn son, Archie Mountbatten-Windsor. The distinctive flowers were in the background, while the caption paid tribute to mothers "past, present, mothers-to-be, and those lost but forever remembered".
