The British Ministry of Defence (MoD) has reportedly removed a claim the Princess of Wales would attend an upcoming royal event from its website.

On Tuesday, the Army's website stated Kate would join members of the royal family at Trooping the Colour in June.

However, the BBC reports it did not seek approval from Kensington Palace before publishing the claim, which no longer appears on the website.

Catherine, who has not made a public appearance since January due to health issues, is believed to be set to return to royal duties after Easter, around early April, after undergoing a planned abdominal surgery in January.

It's understood, however, Kensington Palace and Buckingham Palace will not confirm Catherine nor King Charles III's attendance at any upcoming event as the princess recovers from her surgery, and Charles undergoes treatment for cancer.

It seems the MoD jumped the gun as it launched online tickets for Trooping the Colour events.

The ministry stated Kate, who is Colonel of the Irish Guards, would review soldiers on parade on June 8 ahead of the main event the following week.

Telegraph UK also reported Kensington Palace was not consulted before the MoD announcement.

Palace sources told the publication they were planning for the Princess of Wales to attend but that it would be announced when it was confirmed.

The MoD also noted King Charles would lead his official birthday celebration, despite his ongoing cancer treatment, at the Trooping the Colour Parade on June 15.

While King Charles was seen back to work on Tuesday, similarly, Buckingham Palace sources told the UK newspaper that while they continue to plan the King's tentpole events in his diary, there will be allowances made for his changed circumstances.

This means closer to the date, as required, the King may need to skip the parade, or he may only appear on the balcony, or simply sit in a carriage instead of on horseback.

The soon-to-be-removed claim about Catherine's attendance came hours after the royal was pictured for the first time since being released from a London hospital at the end of January.

"Trooping the Colour reviewed by Her Royal Highness The Princess of Wales is identical to Trooping the Colour reviewed by His Majesty The King, with the exception that some additional mounted officers ride when His Majesty The King is present," the MoD website claimed.

"Taking part will be over 1400 soldiers of the Household Division and The King's Troop Royal Horse Artillery, including 400 musicians from the Massed Bands, all of whom will parade on Horse Guards for the second of two formal reviews.

"Trooping the Colour reviewed by Her Royal Highness The Princess of Wales also includes 250 soldiers from the Foot Guards who will line the processional route along The Mall," the since-removed claim continued.

"The soldiers will be inspected by Her Royal Highness The Princess of Wales, Colonel Irish Guards."
