Kate Middleton's 'every mum' moment with Princess Charlotte

The Duchess of Cambridge has stunned patrons in a London pub by rushing in for a quick toilet stop with Princess Charlotte.

The royals were stuck in traffic near The Phoenix in Stockwell when Charlotte, 3, apparently couldn't hold it any longer.

Startled locals say royal protection officers came in to search the pub before the royal mother and daughter entered. They asked patrons not to take any photos, before Kate walked in, dressed casually in blue pattered trousers, a navy long-sleeve top and a light-blue coat.

The pair were holding hands and after using the bathroom, left the establishment to resume their journey.

"I was sitting in my usual chair and when I looked up I saw Kate Middleton, I mean the Duchess of Cambridge, and her daughter Princess Charlotte," pub local Maggie McKinney tells Mail Online.

"Someone went up to the bar and asked if the wee girl could go to the toilet and then they came in. They could not have been in the pub for more than 10 minutes."

McKinney says the pair seemed "very nice, totally normal".

"Princess Kate was holding her daughter's hand and Princess Charlotte was just any other little girl," she tells the Mail Online.

Another patron tells the publication he was on his way to the pub when he saw the Duchess of Cambridge getting out of a black Range Rover which was parked on the side of the road.

"Then her daughter Princess Charlotte got out and they walked to the pub," he adds.

"A man in a suit stood by the side of the car. I couldn't believe it."

The pub regular said a royal protection officer sat by the bar while Kate and Charlotte used the facilities.

Another local joked about the encounter, saying, "It just goes to show that the royals are like any other family.

"When your kid needs to go to the loo, they got to go."
