The notion got a giggle from Kate who was dressed in a textured apple green double-breasted blazer, believed to be from Zara, accessorised with a gold shamrock pendant by Daniella Draper.
The Duke, dressed in a deeper green Ralph Lauren jumper over a shirt, carried on, reflecting on the couple's first official tour to Ireland last March.
"We were so thrilled to be able to visit Ireland just over a year ago, a few short weeks before all of our lives were turned upside down by the pandemic," William said.
"The warm welcome that we received everywhere was a testament to the friendship between our two countries and the strength of the relationship between the UK and Ireland," Kate followed.

William then picked up to say: "We know that for Irish people all around the world today won't be the same as normal, but we hope that you can celebrate safely in any case."
The pair signed off, once again wishing everyone a "Happy St Patrick's Day".
Kate and William led a number of world leaders in the video message, including Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison, New Zealand PM Jacinda Ardern and Canada's Justin Trudeau.
