Duchess of Cambridge speaks Urdu as she delivers her first speech of Royal Tour

The Duchess of Cambridge has made her first speech of the Royal Tour.

Kate Middleton took to the microphone as Prince William watched on, during their visit to the SOS Children's Villages in Lahore and impressed the locals by speaking a little bit of Urdu.

In the emotion-filled speech, the mother-of-three praised the community spirit of the centre, which supports at-risk children and their families.

"Being here in Pakistan this week, William and I have seen on several occasions how family is at the heart of your culture," the Duchess began.

"Parents, children, aunts, uncles, grandparents all play important roles – you have reminded us exactly what family means. 

"You have shown us too that it is not simply a term that describes the relationship between blood relatives."

The Duchess also praised the "strength and positivity" of those working there.

"I'm aware that many of you have experienced extremely difficult times in your lives. But it is inspiring to see how you have used your strength and positivity to help transform the lives of so many young children here."

Later adding: "You have created a home, where children are given the love, protection, and support that will enable them to have a fairer chance in life."

The 37-year-old then wished three of the children Happy Birthday, before the song was sung and a cake was cut.

While Prince William went into dad mode and made funny faces at the kids in the front rows.

During the visit, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge also read stories to the kids with the Duke putting his arm around one curious child in a tender moment.
