Duchess of Cambridge's stunning 40th birthday portraits to go on display

The Duchess of Cambridge's milestone birthday portraits, released in January to mark her 40th birthday, are set to go on display around the UK.

The three images Paolo Roversi shot of Kate Middleton in November 2021 will be shown across four venues in three locations — Berkshire, St Andrews and Anglesey — each with a special significance to the royal.

The images will feature as part of The National Portrait Gallery's Coming Home project, which sees the gallery lend portraits of well-known individuals to places with which they are closely associated.

Kate's portraits will be showcased at St James the Less Church Pangbourne, Reading Museum, Wardlaw Museum and Oriel Môn, all locations the Duchess, patron of the National Portrait Gallery, helped to pick.

The photograph of the royal seated and gazing to the left will be displayed at St James the Less Church from March 22 to April 5, then at Reading Museum from April 7 to June 4, 2022.

The church has welcomed the Middleton family as parishioners over several generations and the Reading Museum was chosen due to its proximity to the Royal Berkshire Hospital, where the Duchess was born.

The photograph of Kate dressed in a one-shoulder glam red gown will be displayed between June 13 and September 30 at the Wardlaw Museum, University of St Andrews, where William and Kate met while studying.

The third photograph in Roversi's series picturing the Duchess beaming straight down the lens, dressed in white and will go on display at Anglesey's Oriel Môn between July 16 and October 2.

Anglesey, in Wales, is where William and Kate lived during their first years of marriage, when the Duke of Cambridge worked as a rescue pilot.

After the photos were released on January 9 to celebrate the Duchess's 40th birthday, the Italian photographer revealed he had persuaded the future queen consort to dance for him to help her relax.

He also revealed Kate wore "little make-up" as more than 250 photos were taken during their four hours together.
