Kate narrowly avoids wardrobe malfunction as Duchess combines two of her patronages in one outing

Kate Middleton made a windswept entrance to a royal engagement in London on Tuesday.

The Duchess of Cambridge successfully avoided a wardrobe malfunction as her Dolce and Gabbana tweed mini skirt was lifted by the breeze as she stepped out of the car at Evelina London Children's Hospital.

The 38-year-old, who was also wearing thick black tights on underneath, looked shocked by the moment and was quick to grab at the back of her skirt, which was paired with a matching tweed jacket.

The Duchess took part in a creative workshop with kids at Evelina, a charity for which the royal has been a Patron of since 2018.

The arts and craft workshop is part of the National Portrait Gallery's Hospital Programme, merging Kate's two Partonages. The Duchess has been Patron of the National Portrait Gallery since 2012.

After escaping the wardrobe malfunction, the Duchess accepted a posy of flowers from nine-year-old Anna-Victoria, a patient at the hospital, suffering from Achondroplasia, a form of dwarfism.

Inside, the mother-of-three certainly looked comfortable with the glue sticks and "rag wreaths", one of which she delightfully accepted from Luke Wheeler-Waddison.

The ten-year-old, a heart patient at the hospital, even managed to take a Polaroid picture of the Duchess, a keen photographer herself.

Kate was heard telling Luke's four-year-old sister Savannah Wheeler-Waddison the pink "rag wreath" they made will go in Princess Charlotte's room at Kensington Palace.
