Kate admits: 'I have to make sure my children are better than me'

The Duchess of Cambridge appears to have a pretty perfect life – she's married to a prince (and future king), has three healthy children and she's one of the most beautiful women in the world.

But it seems Kate is like all of us with her ability to fault with herself.

The Duchess has admitted she's "so bad" at speaking certain foreign languages.

And she hopes Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis will one day be "much better" than her.

Kate, 36, was caught on camera saying exactly this during a visit to Leicester University on Thursday.

The Duchess was meeting fans when one told her she was from Italy.

"Oh, it’s very nice to see you," Kate told the woman.

She paused momentarily and then continued, "I should be saying, 'Ciao'".

The Duchess then admitted, with a laugh, that her ability to speak foreign languages was "so bad".

"I have to make sure my children are better than me, that’s my aim."

The endearing encounter was posted to Instagram by social media grrrretttta.

Last year, it was reported Prince George and Princess Charlotte were learning Spanish from their nanny, Maria Borrallo.

Perhaps Kate's children will also learn foreign language skills from their father Prince William who has, in the past, spoken Mandarin, Arabic, Spanish, Swahili and Vietnamese.

He also speaks Welsh, a language all members of the royal family posses.

Even Kate has learnt to speak a little Welsh, having lived in Wales before and after her marriage to Prince William in 2011.

The Duchess is believed to be able to speak a few phrases in French – a language Prince William, Prince Charles and the Queen all speak fluently.
