'Utterly determined': King Charles reportedly hoping to lead the royal family at annual Easter Sunday church service

King Charles is set to make a public appearance at the annual Easter Sunday church service.

The King, who recently announced he had been diagnosed with cancer, is reportedly planning to lead the royal family in a public display of unity and support.

Royal sources confirmed to The Mirror that Charles is "hoping to make" the journey to St. George's Chapel in Windsor where the service will be held.

The King is reportedly planning to attend the annual Easter Sunday Church service next week.  The Royal Family

The news comes during a time of turmoil for the royal family, as Kate Middleton announced Saturday morning that she too has been diagnosed with cancer.

His Majesty is said to be a huge support for Kate at this time, as a spokesperson for Buckingham Palace said that he iss "so proud of Catherine," and has "remained in the closest contact with his beloved daughter-in-law throughout the past weeks".

His appearance at the Easter service is with the purpose of reassuring the public during a trying time for the family.

A royal source told The Mirror that, "The King has been keeping in touch with the Princess of Wales from the moment she was admitted to hospital in January and throughout her current cancer treatment.

"He is utterly determined to put on a show of unity for his family and reassure the public and wider world that the monarchy is stable, despite the current tumultuous period it is experiencing."

They continued, "The King is very much hoping he will be able to make the Easter church service but will of make a final decision on the day."

The Sunday Mirror has also confirmed that the King has recorded a special Easter message of hope to be broadcast on Maundy Thursday at Worcester Cathedral.

Charles is not expected to be in attendance at the Royal Maundy Service, however Queen Camilla will lead The Firm and hand out the Royal Maundy gifts on his behalf.
