Judi Dench and Camilla cool off with an ice cream during England's heat wave

Actress Dame Judi Dench and Camilla, the Duchess of Cornwall, have spent the day together on England's picturesque coast.

The thespian and the royal travelled to the Isle of Wight to visit Osborne House, used as a holiday home for Queen Victoria and Prince Albert.

The event coincided with one of the country's hottest days, so to cool off the Duchess and the Dame each enjoyed an ice cream topped with a chocolate flake.

Dench is a patron of the historic home, and played Queen Victoria in the film Victoria and Abdul, which was filmed at the house.

The 83-year-old and Camilla toured the newly refurbished Swiss Cottage in the grounds, as well as the gardens, before moving on to the main house.

There, they were shown the restored Dunbar Room used in the 2017 movie.

Camilla and Judi also shared a carriage ride to see Queen Victoria's private beach, which is now open to the public.

At the end of her visit, the Duchess thanked the crowd saying, "I just wish I could stay a bit longer and have a swim in the sea.... I very much hope I shall be back soon, hopefully on a holiday".

Osborne House was purchased by Queen Victoria and Prince Albert in 1845, and it quickly become one of the monarch's favourite homes.

She once said of the property, "It is impossible to imagine a prettier spot."

After Queen Victoria’s death in 1901, the house was given to the state and parts of the pavilion first opened to the public just three years later.

In the afternoon Camilla had the honour of naming a new high-speed passenger ferry before watching preparations for the Osborne Horse trials, which will take place later in the week.
