Jacinda Ardern accidentally gives Prince Harry and Meghan Markle a new title

As of yesterday, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have a brand new not-so-official title, courtesy of New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern.

Since the birth of their first child, Neve, on June 21, Ardern and partner Clarke Gayford have been inundated with messages of congratulations from around New Zealand and the world.

Speaking to the media outside Auckland City Hospital on Sunday, the 37-year-old told reporters she was blown away to get the nod from Buckingham Palace.

Considering Ardern only gave birth two days before fronting the press (and admitted she was “sleep deprived, but well”), her Essex-Sussex mix up is wholly understandable.

Honestly, keeping across those royal titles is tricky enough, even when you don’t have things like, say, caring for a brand new human and running an entire country to focus on.

At four days of age, her daughter Neve Te Aroha Ardern Gayford also has a royal connection of her own - she shares a birthday with Prince William.
