Royal expert: Prince Harry never wanted his royal title

Prince Harry will lose his 'His Royal Highness' title at the end of the month; but according to royal expert Omid Scobie, he's always wanted to get rid of the royal title.

The Duke of Sussex, 35, and his wife Meghan Markle, 38, will be officially stepping down as working members of royal family on March 31. The couple want to become financially independent and will be splitting their time between Canada and the UK with their son Archie.

Harry attended a conference last week in Scotland about sustainable tourism. Before being introduced, USA Today reports that conference host Ayesha Hazarika said he "made it clear that we are all just to call him Harry".

Scobie spoke on ABC News's HeirPod saying that it was a significant moment for Harry to be addressed with no titles.

"This shows that he is ready to move into this new chapter at full-force ready to leave behind the HRH's and the pomp and the circumstance." He said.

Scobie adds that although it seems like a huge change for the public, and will take some time to get used to, it's something that the Duke has always wanted.

"I think it is important to note that on stage we had the 'call me Harry' moment but this is always who Harry has been" he explained.

Although he's dropping the royal title, Harry still be a prince by birth, and Harry and Meghan will remain the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, just without the His/ Her Royal Highness titles.
