'Fresh' Harry and Meghan 'headache' for the Queen's Jubilee celebrations

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are hoping to be included in the Queen's Platinum Jubilee next year, according to reports.

Buckingham Palace has announced the four-day holiday to mark 70 years of Queen Elizabeth on the British throne from June 2 until June 5 in 2022.

While Prince Harry had planned to attend the unveiling of a statue for his mother Princess Diana this July 1 alongside Prince William, the Queen's Jubilee and Trooping the Colour on June 12 to celebrate the Queen's 95th birthday are in doubt.

For next year's Jubilee, it is understood there are concerns coming from both sides regarding Harry and Meghan's possible involvement, with an insider telling The Sun it would cause a "fresh headache for the monarchy".

"Harry wants to be there. It is already causing a headache and is going to be very awkward," they said. "Where will they be positioned if they turn up? What events can they attend? Will we put them on the Buckingham Palace balcony for the fly past?"

They explained there are concerns Harry and Meghan's attendance could overshadow celebrations.

"This is a celebration for the Queen's 70 years of service to the nation and should not be overshadowed," they said.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex resigned as senior working members of the British royal family in January 2020 and have since relocated to the United States where they have been operating independently under their new Archewell brand, signing a number of lucrative commercial deals.

Most recently Harry has been promoted his mental health series created with Oprah Winfrey called The Me You Don't See which airs on Apple+.

During the series Prince Harry spoke of the mental health challenges he has faced as a member of the monarchy, and has criticised his upbringing.

In an earlier interview with Oprah the couple slammed the monarchy for not supporting them following their wedding and in particularly allegedly refusing Meghan's request for mental health treatment while pregnant with Archie.

The first time Prince Harry faced his family following accusations made against them was at Prince Philip's funeral following his death on April 9. Even then, Harry kept his distance from majority of family members with cousin Peter Phillips walking in between William and Harry during the funeral procession.
