'Meghan doesn't really have any family here as such': Royal butler's bold prediction about Harry and Meghan's future

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex may return to the UK to live, according to Grant Harrold who used to work as King Charles' butler.

Harrold told New York Post he'd "never say never" even though Prince Harry's relationships with senior members of the British royal family are more tenuous than ever.

Speaking on behalf of Oddspedia, he said: "I'd never say never, it's always possible that one day he might want to come home, it's possible that he might buy [a property] here if he wanted to come over [more] and Meghan didn't want to come over."

"Meghan doesn't really have any family here as such, all her family are in the States and that's where Harry has decided he wants to set up his home," he added.

He explained Harry is "always going to have an association with the UK" and will never "totally want to cut that off."

"He'll always want to keep his fingers in that pie, so to speak," he continued. "He'll want to have that association with Britain just in case one day he does want to come back and I don't think Harry will want to sever ties."

Harrod worked for Charles from 2004 to 2011 and has styled himself as The Royal Butler, working as an etiquette expert and royal commentator.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex resigned as senior working members of the monarchy in January 2020. Their initial plan was to split their time between their work in the UK and their own ventures in the US however they were reportedly told they couldn't have it both ways.

Subsequently, the couple relocated to the US with their children Archie, four, and Lilibet, one. The pair returned to the UK for Queen Elizabeth's funeral in September 2022 and Harry attended his father's coronation on May 6.

While promoting his book Spare, Prince Harry said he will never move back to the UK to rejoin the monarchy as a senior working member.

Speaking on Good Morning America, the Duke of Sussex said: "I don't think it's ever going to be possible, I don't think that even if there was an agreement or an arrangement between me and my family, there's that third party that's going to do everything they can to make sure that that isn't possible, not stopping us from going back but making it unsurvivable."

He continued: "Because that's essentially breaking the relationship between us. There was something in the future where, you know, we can continue to support the Commonwealth that of course is on the table."
