Dutch royals finally pose for delayed summer photos after Princess Amalia's hospitalisation

The Dutch royal family have posed for their delayed summer photos in garden of Palace Huis ten Bosch, and the results are breathtaking.

The shoot was originally scheduled for the week of June 11, however they were postponed after Princess Catharina-Amalia, 21, broke her arm in a horse riding accident.

She underwent surgery on her arm on June 10, the Royal House of the Netherlands reported, with the royal seen wearing a cast during her recovery.

The delayed photo shoot has now taken place, with the royal family sharing the results on social media.

"On this sunny day, King William-Alexander, Queen Máxima, the Princess of Orange, Princess Alexia and Princess Ariane pose in the garden of Palace Huis ten Bosch for the photo session," the caption read alongside several photos.

The family also shared a behind-the-scenes video of the day, along with the caption: "Photo session in the garden of Palace Huis ten Bosch."

Princess Catharina-Amalia, also known as the Princess of Orange, is the next in line to the throne of the Netherlands.

Her recovery appeared complete during the photo shoot, with the young royal easily posing for photos alongside her parents King William-Alexander, 58, Queen Máxima, 54, and sisters Princess Alexia, 20, and Princess Ariane, 18.

Also joining in on the fun was the family dog, toy poodle Mambo, who has previously stolen the show when it comes to photo-worthy events.

During the 2024 photo shoot, Mambo urinated on a tree as the royal family watched on while the photographer kept on clicking during the priceless moment.

In 2023 the summer photo shoot took place on a beach, and Mambo could barely contain himself as he hopped around in the sand while the family stayed in position.

This year, Mambo was a little better behaved but was clearly distracted – even while being held.

In one photo taken on a bridge, Mambo is held by Queen Maxima with King Willem-Alexander's arm around her.

Mambo appears to have spotted something below and is fixated on it.

During a pose with the whole family, Mambo is sitting obediently on Queen Maxima's lap however is once again distracted by something in the distance.

While King Willem-Alexander posed for photos with his youngest daughter, Princess Alexia, Mambo can be seen in the background rustling around in a bush.

And while the family posed for photos and video footage walking down a path from the palace to the gardens, Mambo is seen darting across the shot, making direct eye contact with the camera.

The Dutch monarchy, officially the House of Orange-Nassau, has a history deeply intertwined with the Netherlands, evolving from stadtholders to kings and queens.

The lineage traces back to the 12th century.

King Willem-Alexander was inaugurated after his mother Queen Beatrix abdicated in 2013 when he was 46. At the time he was Europe's youngest monarch.

King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima have been married since 2002.
