The beautiful Diana tribute hidden in the official Royal Wedding portraits

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle ensured Princess Diana was present during every significant moment of their Royal Wedding, right down to the official photos.

When the photos were released, keen observers noticed the same gilded mahogany sofas, upholstered with green silk damasak, that was used to take pictures when Diana was alive.

In particular, these special pieces of royal furniture were used to take the official photos on the day of Prince Harry's christening.

In one beautiful photo, Diana is sitting on the lounge holding baby Harry while Prince William, then three, delights the Royal Family with his toddler moves.

Prince Harry can be seen perched on the lounge, with his wife sitting on the ground directly in front of it.

The gorgeous piece of furniture was made in 1827 and features arms carved with lotus leaves and a seat railed with foliage.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex also included the late Princess Diana in their wedding by choosing her favourite forget-me-not flowers in the bouquet, hand-picked by the groom from the gardens of Kensington Palace.

Lip readers reported Prince Harry and his best man, older brother Prince William, talking about their mother as they waited for the ceremony to begin.

"Do you remember when mum used to say...," Prince William was observed as saying.

"Yeah I know," Prince Harry reportedly responded.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have thanked everyone who took part in the event, releasing this statement via Kensington Palace:

"The Duke and Duchess would like to thank everyone who took part in the celebrations of their Wedding. They feel so lucky to have been able to share their day with all those gathered in Windsor and also all those who watched the wedding on television across the UK, Commonwealth, and around the world," it read.

"Their Royal Highnesses are delighted with these official portraits taken by Alexi Lubomirski and are happy to be able to share them today.

"They would also like to say thank you for all of the generous messages of support they have received."
