Princess Benedikte celebrates 80th birthday in Amailenborg with royal family
Princess Benedikte of Denmark has celebrated her 80th birthday in Amailenborg with the royal family.
The Danish royals shared three Instagram posts to mark the princess' milestone.
In the first post we see a recent profile photo of the royal taken in Christian VIII's Palace in Amalienborg.
The message reads: Her Royal Highness Princess Benedikte has a birthday and turns 80 years old today. A new picture of Her Royal Highness is published on the occasion of the Princess's round day.

"The picture was taken in Christian VIII's Palace in Amalienborg. In the same place, Princess Benedict will be celebrated today by family and close friends. Through the Royal House's social media it is possible to send a greeting to Princess Benedict on the occasion of the round day."
The second post features a series of photos of the princess over the years including with her children.

The description reads: "Her Royal Highness Princess Benedikte turns 80 today. Here, on the occasion of the round birthday, a number of moments from the Princess's life are brought."
The final post shows Princess Benedikte with her sisters Queen Margrethe and Queen Anne-Marie.

Princess Benedikte is the younger sister of Queen Margrethe of Denmark who abdicated in January 2024, paving the way for her eldest son King Frederik to become monarch, with his Australian-born wife Queen Mary by his side.
The princess often represents the Danish monarch at official or semi-official events.
