Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall's son says it's unclear whether his mother will ever be 'Queen'

Camilla's son Tom Parker-Bowles has spoken out about whether his mother will ever be called queen.  

While it is expected that Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, will one day sit on the British throne beside Prince Charles, it might not be as "Queen Camilla."

"I honestly don't know if Mum will be called queen," Parker-Bowles revealed to The Sunday Times on Thursday.   

"That hasn't been decided. There are a lot of interesting Sky documentaries about that I'm sure, but I honestly don't know if that's true."

Camilla's future title has been a topic of debate sine her engagement to husband Prince Charles in 2005.  

A press release issued at the time said, "It is intended that Mrs. Parker Bowles should use the title HRH The Princess Consort when The Prince of Wales accedes to The Throne." 

But sixteen years on, it is now widely believed that Camilla will be Queen Consort after Charles is crowned king, although this view is yet to be substantiated by Buckingham Palace.

A number of years ago, the palace removed the question of whether Camilla will ever be queen from the FAQ area of Prince Charles' official website, sparking the controversy.  

 In the interview, Parker-Bowles also discussed his mothers portrayal in hit Netflix drama The Crown, labelling it "mostly bollocks."  

The series saw a young Camilla (played by Emerald Fennell) and Charles engage in a complex relationship behind the back of Princess Diana.

But the debate around whether Camilla will ever be known as 'Queen' remains unclear.  

"That hasn't been decided. There are a lot of interesting Sky documentaries about that I'm sure, but I honestly don't know if that's true," Parker-Bowles said in the interview.

However, the royal family are already preparing for the day when Charles becomes King.

Recent reports claim he is likely to "ditch" members of the royal family when he is king, according to a royal expert who predicts the prince will "cut the monarchy down".

Royal author Angela Levin says the Prince of Wales will streamline the royal family during an interview with talkRadio.

The author claimed: "Prince Charles has wanted for a very long time to cut the monarchy down to save costs and to make people be worth the money that they got from the taxpayer.
