The Duchess of Cornwall has praised Captain Tom Moore on his 100th Birthday.

The war veteran has won the hearts of the nation after raising over $55 million (£29m) for NHS coronavirus relief in the UK, by completing 100 laps of his garden ahead of his milestone birthday.

During a video call with journalist Angela Rippon and Royal Dance Academy's Dame Darcey Bussell, Camilla said Captain Tom made her "proud to be British".

Speaking about the current lockdowns and restrictions, the 72-year-old said: "A lot of good is going to come out of this horrible, horrible time.

"It's bringing out the best in many people. People are so kind, you see the tiny little things - helping out their neighbours, probably talking to neighbours they've never talked to before and doing their shopping, you know.

"That wonderful man, Captain Tom, walking around and raising all that money, that sort of thing makes you proud to be British, doesn't it?"
