An aspiring US actress has been found guilty of two counts of being an accessory after the fact in the murders of two innocent people.

Rachel Buffett – who played several characters at Disneyland, including Princess Ariel – lied to police in an attempt to protect her former fiancé Daniel Wozniak.

Wozniak, a theatre actor, has been sentenced to death after he was found guilty of murdering Afghanistan War veteran Sam Herr, 26, and his friend Juri "Julie" Kibuishi, 23, in May 2010.

And, according to People, on Wednesday, Buffett was convicted of lying to police.

Prosecutor Matt Murphy told People Buffett lied to police at least 20 times, saying, "She lies repeatedly. There are little lies and big lies."

The 31-year-old woman faces up to 44 months in prison at her sentencing, which is scheduled for October 8.

Her defence attorney David Medina told People Buffett's family is "devastated" with the outcome.

"We are currently exploring our options and preparing for the sentencing hearing," he said.

"We are obviously disappointed with the verdict and Rachel’s family is devastated."

After her fiancé's arrest, Buffett denied any involvement in the murders during multiple national television appearances.

"I'm innocent and that's what hurts me most in this whole situation is they're trying to say I'm something I'm not," she told NBC's Dateline.

However, during Wozniak's murder trial, Costa Mesa Police lieutenant Ed Everett testified that he believed Buffett played a larger role.

"In my opinion, she should be sitting next to Mr Wozniak right now," he said, according to the Orange County Register.

During his trial, it was revealed Wozniak's motive for the murders was major debt.

Facing eviction from the apartment he shared with Buffett and desperate for money to pay for the couple's upcoming wedding, he decided to kill Herr and clean out the $US62,000 ($A86,698) in his bank account, earned from his deployment to Afghanistan.
