Spicy Christmas Take: 'The proof is in the Christmas pudding — it sucks'
Welcome to Spicy Christmas Takes, a series where the 9Honey team put their strongest, most divisive festive opinions out into the world.
Yeah, I said it. The thing everyone is too afraid to admit: Christmas pudding is terrible.
Now, maybe I am the Grinch, or maybe I have trauma from spending hours as a child shaving orange rind and other forbidden fruit into a bowl months before the holiday season. But everything about Christmas pudding sucks — change my mind.

"But it's ~tradition~," I hear you say.
Sure, but so are your uncle's racist rants and family fistfights. Nothing about those things are at all good on Christmas Day, and no one pretends to enjoy them.
Christmas pudding has been around for way too long (literally since the era where people were burned at the stake) so it's often referred to as the staple dessert during the holiday season.
But does it have to be? I mean, look at it...

DISGUSTING.
Not to mention the crazy mix of ingredients used — raisins, cooking apple, orange juice, orange ZEST (why not just throw the whole orange in?), prunes, dates, almonds, breadcrumbs, brandy...
Why would anyone willingly eat this? All to create a dense, glacé-ridden lump that gets pushed to the back of the freezer until next year.

Everyone needs to ask themselves whether they actually enjoy eating a brandy-soaked burnt rock of pud.
If you do, fair enough. If you don't, it's time to get the egg-beaters out and make a sweet summer pav. Your family and friends will thank you for it.
For now, I'll stick to my ice cream and custard at the kids' table.
