TV presenter slates Harry and Meghan for keeping birth of royal baby private

As the days inch closer to the imminent arrival of Baby Sussex, many people are getting impatient and antsy about whether we will hear any news about the royal birth.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle released a statement about their intentions to keep the birth private last month, but the decision didn’t sit well with some of the British public and is seemingly grinding the gears of one UK television presenter.

Loose Women panellist Nadia Sawalha expressed her frustration over the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s decision surrounding the impending birth of Baby Sussex. 

“We invested in their love story, we loved the wedding,” she explained.

“We as a nation paid for the wedding, there are certain things that the royal family, for all the privileges that they have – and I’m a royalist, I love the royal family – there are certain things that we as the people, want to know, and the birth of a baby is one of them.”

Sawalha understood Meghan’s reasons for not wanting pose on the steps in front of a horde of cameras just hours after giving birth, but also argued the couple should share the news with the British public.

“You can say she’s not coming out, I get that,” she said. “But just say that the baby’s born in time, when we’ve had our time together we’ll come out and share.”

Sawalha’s fellow panellist, Saira Khan, wholeheartedly agreed with her.

“We are not American people. This is not America,” she said.

“We like our royal family and our royal family know how to treat us. We’ve had babies and we’ve welcomed them.

“We’re the public and we’re the people of this country and we understand they need their privacy and we respect that but just tell us, is it born or not?”

Since Meghan surpassed her reported due date last weekend, there have been many royal fans theorising Baby Sussex may have already been born.

However, a royal insider allegedly told The Sun, Meghan has “categorically not given birth” as of yet.

Dickie Arbiter, the former press secretary to the Queen, also noted that Buckingham Palace wouldn’t deny the birth of Baby Sussex if they weren’t 100% certain.

"If they did deny and the baby was here they'd really end up with egg on their face and nobody would ever believe them again,” he said during an appearance on Today.

"This is a categorical denial and everybody will know in good time when the baby is here. Right now it isn't."
