Prince Harry's ex-girlfriend Cressida Bonas shares cryptic post to Instagram following engagement announcement
It was the engagement news that made headlines across the globe.
And while a slew of celebrities took to social media to congratulate Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, on British actress shared a very different sort of post on Instagram.
Cressida Bonas, Harry's last serious girlfriend before the American actress, re-posted a meme, captioning it "truth" and adding the hash-tag "quotes to live by".
The somewhat cryptic post read: "No matter how educated, talented, rich or cool you believe you are, how you treat people ultimately tells it all."
The image accompanying the quote showed a man and a woman on separate swings, reaching out to one another but not quite able to hold hands.
While the actress is known to share and re-publish quotes, suggesting it could have been something pre-planned and nothing to do with the Royal.
However, some followers questioned the timing and sentiment of the post, while others just assumed it was about her newly-engaged ex-boyfriend.
"Wonder if this is directed at someone in particular," one person asked.
"Totally agree.. however it would have been classier to not say anything at all," another wrote.
"No matter how bitter you are over a failed relationship don’t let social media be your outlet," one person advised.
Cressida and Prince Harry dated from 2012 to 2014 but split after she struggled to deal with the intense attention that came with being his girlfriend.
The end of their relationship came as a surprise to royal watchers who were expecting the pair to announce an engagement, not a split.
